Ukrainian Village
Ukrainian Village
Inspired by the old world craftsmanship of the landmark district, with notes of black currant, incense, and myrrh.
Tucked into Chicago’s Near West Side, Ukrainian Village rose from the brickyards and ambition of post-fire Chicago. Real estate developer William D. Kerfoot began building its finely detailed brick worker’s cottages in 1886, many of which still line Haddon, Thomas, and Cortez streets today. Successive waves of German, Polish, and Ukrainian immigrants made the neighborhood their own, anchoring it with churches, cultural institutions, and quiet residential streets. In 2002, the Ukrainian Village District was designated a Chicago landmark.
