Ravenswood was born in 1868 when the Ravenswood Land Company bought 194 acres of farmland on Chicago's North Side. The area grew rapidly following the addition of the Chicago & North Western Railroad and Chicago's annexation of Lake View and Jefferson Townships. The 20th century saw the "L" train extension, transforming Ravenswood into the hub of art and manufacturing it remains today. Proud residents enjoy an impressive collection of craft breweries, known as “Malt Row,” in today’s Ravenswood Industrial Corridor.
