South Loop
South Loop
Inspired by the spellbinding history of Printer’s Row in South Loop, with notes of cedarwood, leather, oud.
At the turn of the 20th century, the South Loop was synonymous with publishing. Within the few blocks that comprised “Printer’s Row,” the scent of ink wafted through the air, punctuated by the whirr of printing machines. Peek inside the loft buildings, and you’d find the bustle of typesetters and bookbinders churning out prints, including the first edition of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. South Loop’s legacy lives on in the timber beams and brick walls of the lofts that were converted to stylish homes in the 1970s. While the ink has long dried inside these lofts, today’s South Loop is a glimpse into Chicago’s future.
